Color distribution and the color wheel.
>Color distribution and the color wheel.
If you take a look at the Magery Online cards by color you'll notice that blue and red have a higher card count than the other colors. The extra
cards are due to the magery spells and which colors they best fit. Here's a look at my outline for what I wanted in the set:
64 Magery Spells
3 Enchant World
10 Legendary Creature Cycle
5 Tri-land
7 White Creature
7 Blue Creature
7 Black Creature
7 Red Creature
7 Green Creature
4 Non-basic Land
14 Artifact
15 Gold
While the Enchant Worlds, and Legendary Creatures were free from color restraints, I knew I wanted all 64 magery spells in this set, took into
account a decent amount of artifacts and non-basic land I wanted, came up with a number and divided that by 5 (for the 5 colors in magic).
From that each single color received 7 creatures each. At first I wanted to havea at least 1 color represented in each of the eight circles and have
the remaining 3 spells of each circle gold, eventually evening out by the 8th circle.
Sometimes things sound good on paper and make logical sense, but the flavor was lost.
Just going down the list of spells I quickly realized that most spells either fit into red (burn/fire/earth) or blue (miscellaneous/utility). And I soon
realized this was even better. Wizards of the Coast has done thing in the past with Oddessey, Torment, and Judgement where Torment was
"the black set" where black received a bigger piece of the pie, green and white received the least and red and blue got normal shares. I plan to do
the same here.
If you haven't figured out by now, Age of Items will be mainly Age of Shadows themed. White and black will get the most love. And green will
be featured in UO Gods. In the end, all 5 colors will be equally represented.
As for the color pie I'm creating, so far I looks like this:
Magery - all colors will an emphasis on red and blue
Stealing - black, blue and green
Poisoning - black and green
