What does the Create Food spell do?

Create Food is a first circle Magery spell that has an equal chance to create one of the following food items in your backpack at the cost of a Garlic, Ginseng, and Mandrake Root: Apple, Banana, Grapes, and a Raw Cut of Ribs.

What's so special about it?

The most superficial use for this spell is to get one of the fruit items to act as HP recovering items. This is a very bad use for this spell since this one of the worst ways to gain HP. Potions, Bandages, Heal & Close Wounds spells are all much better ways to gain HP.

So what's so special about it?

The very first use you could find for it is to train TheOneEyedJack's Magery skill up to 51 in Dungeon Covetous. At 51 you get access to second circle spells which you need to Untrap the chest in the harpy room to get the Ring of the Vile. Instead of running around waiting for it to happen and running all the way back, you could kill some harpies around the Public Stew, get enough gold to keep your reagents in stock, and start casting away until you hit 51.

In the process you'll get more and more Apples, Grapes, and Ribs.

Later in the game you'll have the opportunity to transform your Apples into Enchanted Apples. Enchanted Apples mimic the Chivalry Spell Remove Curse. The Remove Curse spell and the use of Enchanted Apples are the only ways to remove the Necromancy curses as well as almost every other negative status effect (except for Poison, Sleep, and a few others). Without the Apples, you'll have to rely on Endrick alone to cure your people.

Much like the Apples, later in the game you'll have the opportunity to transform your Grapes into Grapes of Wrath. Grapes of Wrath temporarily increase the ATK of one ally. These aren't nearly as useful as the Apples, but they still have a function.

You'll have plenty of opportunities of getting Apples and Grapes off of monsters and in barrels and chests, but you'll never be able to purchase normal Apples or Enchanted Apples from vendors. Creating your own with the Create Food spell is very useful for this.

Raw Cuts of Ribs have a very specific purpose; to sell them to butchers in exchange for 500gp per rib. Considering the cost for creating one (especially with LRC), it's a nice source of extra income.
