When you're finally satisfied with your loot from the town (or you're tired of running around and want to get on with the story) head to the Pub and watch as fate introduces two of the most unlikely of characters together for the first time. >The Pub

[A] You'll find Commander Meridious having an ale at the table in the center. Talk to him and begin to dodge questions about a thief that's supposedly the one who slaughtered all the soldiers.
[B] At the end of the conversation, just as you're in need of a distraction, A man in black & red walks through the front door. Go to either points [B] to initiate the scene. A few guards will chase TheOneEyedJack out the side exit, and the commander has something else on his mind. Talk to him once more.
[C] Arrr, the Pirate. First mate of the Deep Rising. You can be sure your paths will cross again in the future.
[D] If you talk to the bartender and look at his goods, you'll notice one item in particular that's very odd. And if you're even more curious, you would have noticed two very odd items. The first is a Mug of Ale at 5gp each, they increase your Charm after every consumption. Charm is used throughout the game to release hidden secrets, paths, and items, but is in no way necessary to complete the game. This is the only chance you'll have to raise your Charm through gold. Every other chance will raise your charm through your actions. You'll want to drink at least 3 Mugs of Ale. The second item are the Empty Bottles. You haven't used any potions yet, so you haven't stocked up on any bottles. But if you want to empty the keg on the left, you better buy 5 of them.
[E] As long as you have at least 5 Empty Bottles, you can fill them all with Lesser Strength Potion from this keg.


>The Spice Vendors

[A] When you're done talking to the commander, it's obvious that you need to get out of the town and you need to get out fast. Go to the field next to the wagons again. This time one of the Spice Vendors will be standing with his Pass very close by. You can question him all you like, but it's not for sale. Steal the Spice Vendor's Passport from him.
[B] Once you have the passport, save one last time and as long as you have a dagger equip, you're finally free of this place.
