April 13, 2007
-
My first delay in a chapter. And it was a long one. Put up on April 13th instead of February 13th. Too much going on at once and
something had to give. But as you can see it's done now.
-
My first ending to a Volume. If things go well, I'll have many more attempts to do this. In my initial outline for the story, all
I pretty much had to work with was "Chapter XIII - Pays Rent". That's it. A lot of the story just comes as I go. That's all I had
while I was writing the first few chapters. I had no idea how Mel would get the money. The silent teleport tiles happened only
because it made no sense that someone could sneak up on her unless it made no sound.
-
As the chapters kept on coming, I knew that I wanted a showdown between Melfina and Stark, it would end with Lord of West Luna saying,
"Welcome to West Luna", the money came from selling the copyright to the tiles, and Gamblor would be her messenger.
My orginal idea was much more ambitious. I wanted to script out a long dialogue between Melfina and Stark that felt one way during
this volume finale, while using the exact same dialogue for the finale to the final volume.
I like parallels, but that was way too much to work out, but I like what happened instead. Instead of a long confrontation between Mel
and Stark while Gamblor comes to the rescue, it's instead a confrontation between Mel and Stark, Mel and Reba, and then some action!
Stark vs Melfina's Energy Vortex. We get to the final words, but because of the battle, a warning also preceeds Lord Luna's acceptance
of her payment and her final step to fully becoming a part of West Luna.
