My first late chapter! This was put up in place of the chapter on the date it
was supposed to go up. And I didn't even make that announced date, and delayed putting up the chapter to a week
after that on Jan 10th.
-
The delay turned out to be a good thing however. While I was waiting, I ended up writing full drafts of the rest of
the volume, and tweaked it to make it much better.
-
The most important thing I learned from all of this experience, is that it is extremely important to save all ideas.
I lost two partial drafts from saving incorrectly, or something else. I did try to get it out in time even
though I didn't have my work with me. I know the basic outlines for all these chapters, but trying to rewrite it from
scratch wasn't working. The initial ideas as I flesh out the outlines weren't coming back to me, and the natural flow
and feel of the chapter wasn't coming back in the same way.
-
07-24-2009 - I didn't start recording my revisions until after I was into Volume 2, so I'm guessing a new default
starting point for all Volume 1 chapters to be at 1.50. Rewrite to version 2.00.
Another huge series of messy paragraphs. Sentences that are boring, too long, or have terrible transitions. A net
change of -68 words to 1,775.
